Rotarians helping people!

Our efforts are as diverse as our members.  Some examples of our work in the past year:
  • Our Club and its members raised over $5,000 to support the Deerfield Valley Rescue's urgent purchase of a new ambulance to serve our community!
  • We sponsored free information sessions for the community to help raise understanding of issues related to mental health and different types of financial fraud.
  • We provide community lunch once a month at St. Mary's in the Mountains.
  • We baked and delivered over 1200 valentine cookies to deliver cheer around our community to those in need of some TLC, and to our first responders and municipal workers!

Rotary Club donates over $5000 towards a new ambulance!
The Rotary Club of Deerfield Valley presented a $5,000 grant plus individual donations from Club Members to the Deerfield Valley Rescue, Inc. to help replace one of its three ambulances when it suddenly became unsafe to use. The purchase of a new ambulance sooner than expected was a surprise. The community came together to ensure that a new ambulance could be purchased and Rotary was very proud to be part of that effort.  Change

Garden of Hope

In 2010 Kelly Pollack, then General Manager of Mount Snow and an active Rotarian, had a vision to build a Rotary Garden for the community to enjoy.  Don Albano, our first Paul Harris Recipient, added to that vision, with the concept of “pocket gardens'' in a few towns.
The Garden of Hope sits at the corner of Route 100 and Blue Brook Road in Dover.  Work on the garden continues and is led by Rotarian Mary Ann Montano and her merry band of club volunteers and friends who gather to maintain this varied, beautiful and inspiring garden for the community.

The Holiday Spirit
RCDFV partners with the Lions Club each holiday season to provide gift cards to over 100 local families in need so that they may buy holiday food provisions. We also deliver bags of holiday cheer to families that might need a little extra pick me up during what can be a stressful time!

Operation Warm

For 25 years Operation Warm has served over 4.5 million children across North America. In our VT communities, nearly one in five children live in need. For their families, paying for food, housing, heat and healthcare takes priority, meaning many children have to go without proper weather essentials needed to stay healthy and active.  The Rotary Club of the Deerfield Valley is happy to support this program by bringing warm coats to children and adults of the Valley!

Valentine Cookie Distribution
Each year, RCDFV bakes, bags and delivers more than 1400 cookies and candies to friends in the Valley: those who may be grieving, lonely or recovering from an illness, and to our fantastic local first responders and municipal workers.

Happy Valentine's Day. 🥰
Quilts for Veterans
RCDFV supports Quilters of the Deerfield Valley to create beautiful quilts each year.  Four Veteran recipients received quilts in appreciation of their service at the Memorial Day Ceremony in 2023.
Scholarships
The Frank Spencer Award is given each year to a selection of local high students that demonstrate financial need, significant dedication to their studies and extra-curricular or leadership activities, and the desire to continue their education at the college level.
